Asus Z97-K drivers

Asus Z97-K download driver for Windows

The Z97-K is made, like any similar device, of textolite, in strict black color. The board is a bit thinner than usual “motherboards” and that’s why it looks flimsy, but in fact it is quite strong. On the back side of the board is nothing unusual, you can see only the frame of the CPU socket. On the interface panel, which will be on the back of your system unit, there are all the traditional connectors, but there are also things that seem to have long ago disappeared from the motherboard. From top to bottom:

  • Two PS/2 ports (one for the keyboard and one for the mouse);
  • Three ports for image output (HDMI, DVI and legacy VGA); Four USB 3.0 ports;
  • Two USB version 2 ports;
  • Ethernet port;
  • Three mini-jack audio jacks (7.1 systems supported).

In the front, at the very top left, there is an eight-pin CPU power connector. Moving from there to the right, we see two cooler connectors – one for the CPU cooler and the other for the case cooler. Sliding everything a little more to the right we see that there are four slots for connecting the RAM. The RAM can work in dual channel mode and has the capacity up to 32 GB (DDR3 type). To the right of the RAM slots there is another power connector, but this time it is a 24-pin one – this is the power for the motherboard itself.

Under it are two SATA3 connectors and a USB 3.0 connector on the front panel of the case. Between the RAM slots and the interface panel there is a cooler of the north bridge (the company painted it in golden color) and the socket of the processor (LGA1150). Most importantly, the entire line of fourth generation Intel Core processors is supported. Initially the socket is covered with a special plastic cover. It can be easily removed, and in its place without any problems the processor is installed. Around the socket you can see four holes for mounting the cooling system.

Under the socket, next to the RAM slots, there is an M.2 slot. It has a higher bandwidth than the SATA3 connector (up to 32 gigabits per second vs. 6 for SATA), which means there is an opportunity to install a faster drive and correspondingly higher performance.

Since we are talking about drives, we would like to tell you about all SATA3 connectors at once. Two of them are under the motherboard power slot. They are parallel to the RAM slots and are located at the very edge of the motherboard. There are four more SATA version 3 connectors and they are located in the bottom right corner of the motherboard.

They are located in pairs on top of each other. While placing two connectors conveniently next to the motherboard power supply, the company didn’t forget about the rest of the connectors – they are positioned mirror-like. This way you can easily plug in g-connectors too, because they will face different sides and won’t interfere with each other. But if you insert a solid-state drive into the M.2 slot, the two SATA connectors (numbered 5 and 6) will not work, and vice versa.

On the top there are six slots for expansion cards: two PCIe 3.0/2.0 X16 (for graphics cards, though only Crossfire is supported for video card sharing), two PCIe 2.0 X1 and two regular PCI.

The bios battery is located under the top PCIe x16 slot for graphics cards. So if you install a video card into this slot, you won’t be able to quickly access the battery.

And on the bottom of the card there are a lot of contacts for connecting the front panel of the case (USB 2.0 ports, control buttons, audio input and output, indicators) and other additional connectors like COM-port, etc.
