Asus ROG STRIX Z390-E drivers

Asus ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING download driver for Windows

The ASUS product design uses a full-size (305×244 mm) PCB. The device has three PCI Express x1 ports and the same number of PCI Express x16 ports. The first PEG-port is intended for graphics card installation, so there are no slots under it.

Of course ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING supports NVIDIA SLI and AMD CrossFire technologies – both PCI Express x16 slots will run in x8+x8 mode. By the way, this pair of PEG-ports is additionally reinforced. The metal framework called SafeSlot, according to ASUS, increases the strength of the port by 1.8 times under breaking load and by 1.6 times under pulling load. The third PCI Express x16 port always operates in x4 mode.

The presence of seven fan connectors on the board is a pleasant surprise. All of them are 4 pins.

At that the engineers decided to place three pads for fans connection at once in the lower right part of the board’s textolite, next to SATA ports. There are connectors marked as M.2_FAN, W_PUMP and CHA_FAN2. For example, on the ASUS website you can download a drawing of a special fan mount included in the package and use it to cool the M.2 storage. The W_PUMP port will come in handy for those who will be building a custom cooler – the reservoir with the pump is usually attached to the bottom of the Tower case.

Next to the socket is the AIO_PUMP socket, it is designed to connect the unattended water pump. In general, on the basis of ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING it is realistic to assemble a powerful system with a lot of fans.

The main slot supports 42, 60 and 80 mm drives, they can be connected both via PCI Express x4 3.0 interface and via SATA 6Gbps (in that case the port marked SATA6G_2 will be disabled). This M.2 port is very conveniently located. Firstly, an SSD installed here will not be blocked by the video card and will not become extra warm. Secondly, the SSD will be additionally cooled if the air cooling system is used.

The second M.2 slot will only cover the graphics card when using a CrossFire or SLI array. This slot supports 42mm, 60mm, 80mm and even 110mm drives, but only works in PCI Express x4 mode. Both M.2 slots are equipped with aluminum heat sinks for extra SSD cooling. With the chip and memory chips such plates contact with the thermal gasket.

Apart from the M.2 pairs, there are six SATA 6Gb/s pads unsoldered on the board as usual for ATX motherboards.

As for the interfaces themselves, we will see four USB 3.1 Gen2 ports on the I/O panel, which are implemented due to the chipset. One of them is of C-type and is operated by the ASMedia ASM1543 controller. The ASMedia ASM1442K chip provides HDMI version 1.4 video output.

Wired network connectivity is provided by Intel I219-V controller, and wireless by Wireless-AC 9560, which, in addition to Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with up to 1733 Mbps bandwidth, also supports Bluetooth 5.0.
